Harford County Public Schools
The Harford County Public School System is one of the fastest growing in the state and one of its
most successful. With the seventh largest school enrollment in Maryland, Harford County has seen its student
population increase by more than 10,000 in the past 15 years to 39,175, a growth in excess of 33 percent.
The enrollment increase has been fueled by a booming residential development in Harford County.
Located along the I-95 corridor midway between the Baltimore and Wilmington/Philadelphia metropolitan
centers, Harford County’s moderate tax structure, access to transportation, and progressive government has
been attractive to business and commercial development as well. In addition, the projected impact of new
residents expected when the Base Realignment and Closing (BRAC) is completed within five years, will
increase school enrollment by thousands of students.
