I began adapting my sons Trophies textbook shortly after he began full inclusion second grade. He listened to Symwriter adapted stories on the computer as much as he needed to comprehend the story and then read the text in the textbook to his aid, (guided reading). (One could also have a student listen to the audio version of the story on C.D). My son completed the comprehension worksheets with his aid after the multiple exposures to the story. The comprehension questions in the 2nd grade comprehension sheets I am posing don't follow the Trophies assessments as I didn't discover the assessments until 3rd grade. The 2nd grade comprehension sheets focus on vocabulary words and answering Wh questions with a few other varied comprehension activities. I hope what I have done can help other children in inclusive educational placements gain access to the general education curriculum.
