Description:
I teamed up with an OT to create this class activity. We had the children use yard ornament candy canes as hockey sticks to shoot wadded paper balls under, between and next to classroom chairs/desks. Each location was designated a certain "point." Under the chair was 3 points, between the chairs was 1 point, etc... I worked on following directions, good sportsmanship behavior and prepositions. The OT addressed body positioning to hold the candy cane as well as writing the "points" earned. The teacher addressed the math skill of adding up the points. The children loved it!
